Canton cleans up following November explosion

Following a natural gas explosion that occurred in Canton, Illinois last November that leveled an entire building, caused damage to many other buildings and vehicles in the area and killed one man, the city has started the process of cleaning up the damage and moving forward. The explosion occurred behind the Opera House on the square. A crew from Ameren Illinois came to the area around 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 16 to repair a compromised gas line when the explosion occurred. The town square still features many windows that are boarded up for safety awaiting repairs after the explosion.
