Vehicle hits workers on county road

On Dec. 1 at 5:40 p.m., local law enforcement and emergency personnel received a call for a car vs. pickup accident that led to the serious injury of two workers outside of Adair.  According to Illinois State Police, Ralph William Day, 75, was driving on County Road 2100 East, northbound, north of County Road 700 North, when he was “blinded” by the headlamps of a 2007 Chevrolet 4D Pickup parked illegally facing southbound.  Day then took “evasive action” into the northbound ditch, striking and seriously injuring two workers and hitting a toolbox in the ditch.  Day was not injured in the accident, but the two workers were air lifted to Peoria OSF Hospital with serious injuries.  Any charges in this case are currently pending investigation.
