 A several month long investigation into the sale of crack and powdered cocaine led to the arrest of four people Thursday night during a raid at a Macomb residence. Two of those arrested are students at Western Illinois University.

 According to Macomb Police, Sterling J. Perez, 22 of Chicago Heights, Illinois, Robin L. Daniels, 24 of Springfield, Illinois, Laurence J. Sanders, 22 of Burbonnais, Illinois and William M. Kauck, 20 of Elmhurst, Illinois were arrested and charged.

 During an execution of a search warrant at the residence, located at 922 N. Charles St. Apt 117, police allegedly found the controlled substance crack cocaine, cannabis, digital scales and drug paraphernalia. The illegal items were confiscated by the Macomb/McDonough County Combined Drug Unit which is made up of officers from the Macomb Police Department, McDonough County Sheriff’s Office and the Western Office of Public Safety.

 Sanders, a junior pre-business major, and Kauck, a sophomore broadcasting major, will go through the judicial process according to Darcie Shinberger of University Relations at Western.

 Perez was charged with manufacture/delivery of controlled substances, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance, manufacture/delivery of cannabis between 10 and 30 grams, possession of cannabis between 10 and 30 grams, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

 Perez was recently arrested by Macomb Police for allegedly committing criminal damage to property over $300 back on Aug. 16.

Daniels and Sanders were charged with possession of cannabis between 2.5 and 10 grams.

 Kauch was charged with possession of cannabis between 2.5 and 10 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia.

 Macomb Police Chief Curt Barker and McDonough County Sheriff Rick VanBrooker said in a release that “more arrests are expected” as the investigation into the sale of crack cocaine continues.
